Lighting a Small Bathroom
We all know that lighting is important in any bathroom. The last thing that you want is dim lighting while you’re getting ready for the day or winding down for the night. Small bathrooms, however, present their own set of challenges. You need to find the sweet spot in terms of lighting. Too little light and the room suddenly becomes smaller. Too much light and it takes over the whole room, making you feel like you’re in a doctor’s office.
The Problem With Vanity Lighting
Vanity lights are an absolute must in a larger bathroom, but in a smaller bathroom, a full vanity light can potentially overwhelm the space with too much bright light. And in some cases, there might not even be enough physical space to accommodate it. In lieu of vanity lights, you could consider a lighted mirror. It occupies less space and can still provide the task lighting your Colorado kitchen needs.
Darkness is the enemy of a small bathroom. Any time you’re faced with dim lighting, it makes the room look even smaller. Shelves and cabinets are necessary in any bathroom, and installing a light underneath the fixture can illuminate the space below. And because the undermounted light sits flush with the cabinet or shelf, which helps reduce clutter.
One way guaranteed to make a room feel smaller is to have a large ceiling fixture that hangs down from the ceiling. To avoid this problem, go with a light fixture that sits flush with the ceiling. The fewer lines in the fixture, the easier it is to seamlessly blend into the ceiling.
Also, consider a fixture that offers diffused lighting. Diffused lighting is softer than mirror and vanity lighting and creates a feeling of a more open room.
