Bar Ideas for Kitchens
The kitchen is the heart of the home, and not just because you cook there. A kitchen can also play a huge role in hosting and entertaining guests. If that’s a big part of what you do, you may want to plan for a bar as part of your kitchen. There are a few features you can incorporate to transform your wet bar area into a space that will make everyone cheerful.
A sink is an invaluable element of the bar. Plan on a small sink that matches the main sink in the kitchen to avoid having the bar stick out visually. The sink will prove to be convenient for anyone who wants to fix a drink.
If you want a bar, there’s a good chance that you have some nice barware. Put those vintage glasses on display and show off your bar accessories with the addition of glass cabinet doors. You can keep everything neatly stored away while still providing a beautiful display of glassware or bottles.
A good bar will also have a refrigerator within close range. For many bars, that means a small fridge or wine fridge. Choose one that blends in with the rest of the room and make sure it’s in close proximity to the sink and countertop.
If you don’t have a lot of space for your glassware, you can take advantage of the space underneath the cabinets by adding a couple of stemware racks. Your stemware will hang from the rack and still be conveniently within reach.
Every good bar should have some type of backsplash. It can be simple and practical, or you can take the opportunity to find tile that provides a pop of texture or color. For continuity with the rest of the kitchen, consider mimicking the backsplash that’s already there.
