All About Pot Fillers
We all know about countertops, cabinets, and lighting, but sometimes it’s the little things that we overlook. When it comes to kitchen remodels, there are a ton of accessories and interesting add-ons that can transform your kitchen. One unique accessory that we love is the pot filler. Do you need one? Maybe. Do you want one? Probably!
What is a Pot Filler?
A pot filler is a type of faucet, but it doesn’t live over a sink. Instead, a pot filler is usually installed near the stove. It has a long, moveable arm that stretches across the stovetop. The point is for you to be able to easily fill a large pot with water without having to haul a heavy pot back and forth across the kitchen.
Pot fillers are great for saving your strength lugging a heavy pot of water around the kitchen. Not only that, but some kitchens have smaller sinks or lower faucets that make filling a large pot nearly impossible. In addition, the foldable arm of the pot filler will usually neatly collapse against the wall so it’s out of the way when you’re not using it.
Because the pot filler only uses cold water, the installation is fairly straightforward. The accessory needs only one water line, but you do need to make sure the height is exactly where you want it. Measure your tallest pots and make sure it will fit. In addition, you want to make sure that it’s not so tall that it becomes out of reach for you.
Pot fillers are incredibly convenient, especially if you lack the arm strength to deal with a pot full of water. However, the one issue the pot filler doesn’t fix is that you still have to drain that very heavy pot at some point. In addition, because the pot filler is located at the stove, there isn’t a drain in case of leaks.
